How can I connect a wireless Xbox360 controller to my PC? I wanted to get the wired Xbox360 controller for Windows, but the guy on amazon sent a wireless Xbox360 controller with no batteries or accessories. Before I ask for a refund I wanted to know if there would be a way to make this controller work for my needs. I do not have an Xbox, just a PC.

What are some good accessories for PC gaming? Note: i have already picked out the keyboard, mouse, mouspad, and the desk and moniter. So I already plan to get A battery charger for my mouse, Velcro strips to hang things on the wall conveniently, A stand alone mic with filter, webcam, stand for my tablet, anti-static pad because my desktop will be near carpet, a mini fridge next to it for beverages, coasters for said beverages, And armrests for both the mouse and keyboard. If you can list anything to help that I might like, don't hesitate.

Would my £400 budget PC handle good games? Hi guys, I recently gotten $500 for my bday, and I want to build a $400 gaming system because the rest I would need for accessories (e.g Monitor, Mouse & Keyboard). I've done ALOT of research deciding what parts to get and everything. What FPS and settings would this build run at on: BF4, League of Legends and Planetside 2? Also, Can you check if all the parts work well together and everything? This is my first time building a PC aswell. I also got a monitor but don't know if it's worth it. Help with getting my wired Xbox 360 controller to work on my PC? I've installed my controller by plugging in the USB into the USB port, and my PC told me that it's installed. But the controller won't light up, and it isn't responding when I open Microsoft Xbox 360 Accessories Status. When I go to my device manager it says that the controller is working properly as a 'Xbox 360 Wireless Controller via Play & Charge Kit' even though it's wired. I know this is the one though because when I unplug the controller the device manager says that I removed the hardware. So I installed but it's just responding or lighting up, and I really want to play my PC games with a controller. Any help is appreciated, and thanks in advance.
xbox 360 controller on pc.? i have gears of war for pc and i have a wired xbox 360 controller. i had hear you can plug the usb from the controller into your pc and use it for pc games but when i plug in my controller and try to play gears, it doesnt work. what do i have to do to get it to work?
Gaming accessories question? ok so i am getting a custom Gaming PC built. I've ordered all the parts. Only thing remain is a wireless network adapter. but i am not sure which one i should get for the best speed, etc. also I am planning to get a wired network adapter as well. because even though my internet is really fast. the wireless connection always has problems regardless of having the best equipment. so do i need to get a wired network adapter separately or it will come along with one of the PC parts i ordered? like motherboard or w/e. if not, which wired network adapter do i get? the mother board i got is pci 3.0 ready i think. or was it the video card. i cant remember lol. Also, do i need to add a HDMI port to the desktop so i can play games in HD? if so, how do i do that? and which hdmi port is best? the video card i am using is [ Asus Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition 2GB Video Card]. so basically my main questions are: Which PCI/PCI EXPRESS wireless network adapter is the best? which wired network adapter is the best? ( or do i have to get one at all?) do i need a HDMI port or not, if so which one?
New computer gaming setup? I am looking for a new computer gaming setup to last me for as long as possible. My budget is around £1000 for the whole thing, accessories and screens included. I don't mind whether it is a PC or a mac, I can live with either. Any suggestions? Thanks

Are Kinect games bad? I have a PS3 and I play mainly fighting games. However, the PS3 has 2 frames of lag online/offline, and players tend to lag a lot on PSN (I have a good connection, wired and don't lag on PC games). So I was thinking of buying the fighting games I play the most on a 360, and also getting a Kinect. Are Kinect games bad? I was interested in the Michael Jackson game. Edit: So my only reason would be for better online, since the Kinect is so bad?
Is this a decent gaming pc? So I am trying to build a good gaming desktop, and my budget is less than $1300. I have read decent reviews for this website and tried customizing a pc. However I am not a good computer tech so can someone please answer these questions using the summary of the build below? 1)Will this build be able to handle today's games with minimal lag? 2)Are the parts in this pc conflicting with each other in any way? 3)Am I missing something that is fundamental to a functioning pc? 4)Is it worth the money? PS3 Logitech Wired Headset Low Volume? Unsure of what kind of Logitech Headset it was but, it was made specifically for PS3. There is no volume control so I am unsure how to fix it. If i plug the USB cord into my computer it is a lot louder and I can hear it a lot more(mainly because I can change the settings on my PC but not on the PS3), Again let me know if you can help. Ive tried those, The "settings" in the Menu only allow me to set an Echo Canceler. In game ive tried with Black Ops and Dead Space 2, Its at max. Still unclear of what to do. (Again works fine on PC and when Im checking my voice in the settings, its just other people I cant hear.

How should the next generation computers be designed? We have a dual-core Pentium processor which is replacing the old one. But, the development will not be faster that way, because they still use electron currents. We all know that light travels faster than electron current. When they use laser flows instead of electron flow using Raman Effect discovered by Sir C.V.Raman, Nobel Laureate, the next big revolution in making computers will take place. Some researchers in U.S.A. are already working in this line. http://www.spectrum.ieee.org/jan05/2912 http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/c/a/2006/09/18/MNGRBL7JE51.DTL The next drawback in a computer is that the Numeric Co-Processor in the C.P.U. works according to arithmetic logic. We know that the result of multiplying an eight digit number with another eight digit number cannot be obtained in one step. Ancient India knows a very unique method which gives this answer in one step - the Vedic mathematics. If the Numeric Co-Processor was to be designed using Vedic mathematics, each personal computer will work like a super computer even with the present day computer hardware. And the super computers will work like Mega Computers. http://mathemajik.tripod.com/article/mathematics.html http://www.hindubooks.org/sudheer_birodkar/india_contribution/maths.html http://jhunix.hcf.jhu.edu/~blee27/essays/ancient_mathematics.htm http://www.lifepositive.com/mind/education/vedic-mathematics/vedic-mathematics.html http://www.mindsay.com/tags/ancient http://www.worldcatlibraries.org/wcpa/ow/d749ca08fa6ff8be.html http://www.cds.caltech.edu/~nair/indianmathematics.php http://www.mathematik.com/Indianmath/index.html It is observed that the Raman Effect is 10,000 times larger in silicon than in an ordinary glass fibre. The silicon combined with the Raman Effect produces a continuous laser beam that is most needed in computers. The technology is being hailed as a breakthrough because it vaults the last barrier preventing the use of low-cost, high-bandwidth silicon photonics devices in and around future computers and data centres. http://www.expresscomputeronline.com/20061009/technology03.shtml Lasers are already used to transmit high volumes of computer data over longer distances between offices, cities and across oceans using fiber-optic cables. In principle, such lasers could allow the integration of electronics and optics in standard-issue silicon chips, rather than in chips made of exotic semiconductors. If that happens, fiber-optic connections now seen only in long-haul telecommunications networks could finally come to the low level PC also. Intel exploited what is know as the Raman effect, in which light scatters in certain materials in such a way as to produce another, longer wave length. The idea was to feed light from a separate laser into the chip and have Raman laser light emerge. http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn8876-laser-chips-could-power-petaflop-computers.html http://aine.newsvine.com/_news/2006/03/22/142392-laser-chi...-power-petaflop-computers http://www.usatoday.com/tech/products/cnet/2006-09-18-chips-laser-light_x.htm 'Laser Chips' Could Replace Wires in Your PC http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,127163-c,chips/article.html The development lasers in chips is a result of research at Intel, the world's largest chipmaker, and the University of California, Santa Barbara. Commercializing the new technology may not happen before the end of the decade. http://www.usatoday.com/tech/products/cnet/2006-09-18-chips-laser-light_x.htm Cray computers are already past generation computers. My question is about the genaration to come.

Laptop screen goes black and sometimes after restarting the laptop wont turn on? I have a Hp pavilion dv6, its a little over a year old but these problems started around october and november. For some magical reason my laptop will turn on again after hours of rest and il be able to use it normally again and that is why i havnt taken it to the service center yet lol. I use my laptop mostly for gaming and these problems show up usually after i play games and the laptop gets hot. And yes i have searched for answers and tried some solutions like holding the power button for about 30 secs but it doesnt work. Im scared it might be a motherboard problem, Im also hoping it might just be some loose wiring and or an inverter problem because while the screen is black i can still use it with an external monitor. Im hoping to resolve this matter with a simple solution and thank you in advance for any answer given :)

Why won't my xbox controller work for this pc game? i downloaded some games off of torrent websites and all the other games work fine with the xbox controller except this one game i recently set up on the computer. when i try to play the game it will only work with the keyboard and mouse. also i should mention that the controller is wired and i have Microsoft xbox 360 accessories status downloaded on my computer and that's how i can use this xbox controller on the pc. the game is The Darkness 2 and yes I'm pretty sure its compatible with a controller especially because the buttons on the screen show up as controller buttons and there are controller settings in options.

Are these PC specs good for Video Editing? Okay so I've been looking to build a PC recently and I am so far deciding whether or not to use these specs. They seem pretty good to me, but I would like your serious opinions. If you could also state whether you have experience in the computing industry or whatever you call it that would be great, as I want someone who knows what there talking about giving me advice. I've been building my PC on http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/ Here are screenshots of the specs I have chosen.. Core Components: http://gyazo.com/21df385a12d875d2010388f8042cb5c3 Hard drives, Optical storage & Memory card reader: http://gyazo.com/c177ea8ba5ebac29ae45195d61075119 Power and Cooling: http://gyazo.com/848b29b210712839fb2c2f18684a20e8 System Refinements: http://gyazo.com/b63b79e9e655b6931a8e5a4892cc2470 Operating System and Software: http://gyazo.com/0291845d8b21228752d5120370369cd9 Peripherals and Accessories: http://gyazo.com/3dec5ee834c0c038eee4d15310c8edea http://gyazo.com/ae067e4766b1532e8393ff90c00aee90 I will be using the PC mostly for video editing and some gaming, I will be recording Xbox 360 with my Hauppauge HDPVR and then have the videos rendered in Sony Vegas, I want the videos to render very fast. The current computer I have no SUCKS so bad, it takes over 6 hours to render a 10 minute video which is a pain in the back. If you could give me advice on whether this PC is good enough that would be great. The specs of the PC I have gave you comes to a total price of £2,549. I wouldn't really want to go over £2,550 so if you recommend any changes please keep it within that budget. So to top this question off, I want a very fast machine that will not lag and render videos fast. Thanks

How much should I sell my gaming PC for? I am planning on selling my PC could you tell me an estimated price of what I should sell it for. I am going to sell it on KSL.com in UTAH I looked at other computers on there and some of them are being sold for $1500 and are crappier computers than mine. I am expecting to sell it for at least 1300 considering I just bought it in Oct. 2011 I just replaced the GPU, Water cooling system, and all case fans 1 week ago. It has professional wiring for maximum airflow so it won't overheat. The power supply should be replaced just to a higher efficiency one. Do note that this is a full gaming pc bundle including PC, Mouse, Keyboard, Monitor, speaker system all gaming things. I would expect to get at the least 75% of what I paid for considering that 3 expensive parts were just replaced. DONT TELL ME "YOU'LL GET ABOUT 400 - 500 DOLLARS WHEN IT WOULD COST THEM A LITTLE LESS THAN 1200 DOLLARS FOR THE PC THEMSELVES IT IS PRACTICALLY BRAND NEW WHICH MEANS IF I SOLD IT FOR 1300 DOLLARS ITS LIKE THEM GETTING A MONITOR AND SPEAKERS FREE. which is an amazing deal. Generic/3rd party Xbox 360 wired controller? Should I get one of these? This is primarily for PC gaming. On eBay They are significantly cheaper than the OEM products from Microsoft, but I have a couple of questions since cheap doesn't always mean good. 1. Do these work fine on the actual Xbox 360 console? 2. Do they always function correctly? (As in analog sticks going wrong directions etc.) 3. Do the analog sticks and D-Pad feel the same as the regular controller? 4. Do they last long? 5. If I hook it up to a computer, is it recognized as a 360 controller? Or do I need a 360 controller emulator like Xpadder? This is one of the ones I am looking at:http://www.ebay.com/itm/Black-Wired-USB-Game-Controller-Joypad-for-Microsoft-Xbox-360-PC-Windows-7-/180948073050?pt=Video_Games_Accessories&hash=item2a21587a5a#ht_2616wt_1037

Can you connect a fake XBOX360 controller to your Laptop? Now I don't even know if the XBOX360 controller I'm looking at is fake, but I'm assuming it is as it doesn't have a 'X' symbol in the middle of the controller. But what I'm wanting to do is play a game through my Laptop with the XBOX360 controller, which has with it a USB cord so will it work? Or is there a special way of doing it, or will it not work at all? Here is the one I'm looking at: http://cgi.ebay.com/Flexible-Wired-Game-Joypad-Controller-Xbox-360-PC-/110687625435?pt=Video_Games_Accessories&hash=item19c57f20db

Does anyone know how to get these sixaxis controllers to work on pc? http://cgi.ebay.com/New-For-Sony-PS3-DualShock-SixAxis-Wireless-Controller_W0QQitemZ370238084779QQcmdZViewItemQQptZVideo_Games_Accessories?hash=item5633e8d6ab&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14 I've tried the libusb driver and the one by the Japanese guy for a wired connection. It says on the ebay link wireless bluetooth but it wont connect to the ps3 without the stick so it makes me think infrared receiver idk. The pc recognizes even without any special drivers but without any functionality. I was hoping that it would plug n play like those cheaper wal mart controllers with the infrared receiver (i forgot the brand logitech maybe) without the bulkiness.
Which keyboard would suit me? I just got a coupon from HP, $50 off, and my keyboard kinda broken down too.... I am a casual PC gamer, and also a programmer, not sure which one suit me, so I would like to ask people opinions. I have three choices: 1) Logitech MK700 wireless + mouse. http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/product_detail.do?storeName=accessories&landing=computer&category=categories&subcat1=mice_keyboards&orderflow=1&a1=Type+of+product&v1=keyboard_mice_sets&product_code=AU931AA%23ABA&catLevel=2 I could get this one, after applying coupon + rebate, it 40 bucks. 2) Logitech G15 gaming keyboard: http://www.shopping.hp.com/product/computer/categories/gaming/1/accessories/FT891AA%2523ABA This one is wired, obvious, no mouse, but yea cool features, really nice design, I not sure about comfort though. After coupon and rebate, it about 37 bucks. 3) Logitech Wireless keyboard wave + wireless mouse: http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/product_detail.do?storeName=accessories&landing=computer&category=categories&subcat1=mice_keyboards&orderflow=1&a1=Type+of+product&v1=keyboard_mice_sets&product_code=AU162AA%23ABA&catLevel=2 After coupon + rebate, it about 25 bucks. Thank you for ur opinions, i really appreciate it.

Building my own pc, are these parts compatible? I have never built my own desktop before and do not have a ton of computer knowledge. However, my friend has built several computers but is currently unreachable and I just wanted a second opinion. I plan on ordering all the parts from Newegg.com and will include the links below. Case- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16811129021 Mobo- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16813131299 (I am getting a good deal on ram with it, plus it's nice to be able to upgrade to SLI in the future) PSU- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16817371011 CPU- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16819115017 Graphics card- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16814161244 Sound card- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16829102012 Hard drive- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16822136039 CPU fan- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16835200034 Network interface card- Is it necessary that I get a new NIC if the Mobo comes with onboard lan? I just wanted to make sure all the parts are compatible with eachother, but with my limited knowledge, I don't know everything to look for. I cannot afford a more expensive PSU, I am pretty set on the case and Graphics Card, and I really like Intel CPUs more. I figure with a quad core it's more future proof too. Also, my friend already has a PC tool kit, but do you believe that I will have to purchase any other wires? Every component is Retail, but should I upgrade cables for a lower-mid range gaming rig? Any other accessories I will need?

Charge and play 360 controller on the pc? I have (as stated above) an xbox 360 controller I wish to play Alien versus Predator classic 2000, which claims to support 360 controllers. I have read conflicting articles and forums that you can/cannot use a wireless controller that has a charging cord (not permanently wired) to play games, in particular the game stated above. I've downloaded a Microsoft xbox accessories program that's supposed to allow this to happen, but I cannot get the controller to work/sync/respond after being plugged in. I guess my question is how can I get my computer to register/sync/respond to my pc so I can play my game? Any help would be much appreciated, even if it's a simple "No that controller will not work." I should note that the first time I plugged it in it downloaded a driver or whatever and claims it should work.

I want to buy a passing headset for a low price and so I see this one. It's simple to configure, yes? Perhaps I should post my price range (don't care too much for headsets so a decent one will be fine): $20 or less.

How to use my Turtle Beach headset on my PC? So I have an Turtle Beach Earforce X31 headset for the Xbox 360. I want to use it as a mic so I can record my voice for videos on my PC. I've heard that you need certain wires to connect it to your PC, but I found on the official Turtle Beach site they have "PC Chat Adapter Cable". The description for this says: "Use this cable to connect the X41 headset's microphone directly to a PC mic input OR to a USB sound card". This is weird cause this item is in the accessory section for the X31's, but it says it connects your X41's to your PC. It also says "Not compatible with the X3, X4 Headphones". Link: http://www.turtlebeach.com/products/xbox-gaming-headsets/ear-force-x31.aspx So I'm wondering, will these work for my X31's? Also will I be able to talk, and hear sound with this cable?

Which is a better PS3 Headset for Call of Duty? Which headset would be better for me and my gaming experience for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 on the PlayStation 3 console. I play with my clan often a lot and my friends most of the time. So I've basically narrowed it down to, two different headsets within my budget. The Turtle Beach Earforce P11 for PS3, and PlayStation Official Wireless Headset. Link for the Official Headset: http://us.playstation.com/ps3/accessories/wireless-stereo-headset-ps3.html Turtle Beach Headset: http://www.amazon.com/Force-Amplified-Stereo-Gaming-Headset-Pc/dp/B002I0J5CO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1322445293&sr=8-1 The Turtle Beach headset requires a bunch of tangling wires but fits my budget. My budget is $45-$100. The $100 is a bit excessive, but I believe it's worth it. I personally like the PS3 headset more, although it does require it's to be charged with a cord, but I use to have a the bluetooth headset, and I lost those ones, so I'm used to it and the batteries give 18 hours of gameplay, and they come with a dongle (USB stick). The Turtle Beach headset delivers 50mm drivers with bass, and they're half the price. Please give positive feedback, and go with the facts! Thank you!

How good would you say this computer is? Just ordered it.? I purchased this gaming computer off of IBuyPower last night. It was the best website I was able to find which allows me to pick out all the parts I want for relatively cheap prices, and then build & ship it to me. The computer ended up coming to a total of approximately $2600 USD before shipping and taxes. I did not need to purchase speakers/keyboard/mouse. I will also be purchasing a new monitor next week for about $300, 24" LSD with a 2 ms response time and 50,000:1 dynamic contrast, as I didn't want to have to pay more in shipping to buy a monitor from IBuyPower The specs of the computer are the following: Gamer Paladin F750 Case ( Raidmax Enzo Gaming Tower Case - Black ) Processor ( Intel® Core™ i7 950 Processor (4x 3.06GHz/8MB L3 Cache) ) Motherboard ( EVGA X58 SLI Classified Intel X58 Chipset CrossFire and SLI Supported w/7.1 Sound, Triple-Channel DDR3, Dual Gb LAN, S-ATA Raid, USB 2.0, 3-Way SLI PC - 3-Way SLI ) Memory ( 6 GB [2 GB X3] DDR3-1600 Triple Memory Module - Kingston HyperX ) Video Card ( NVIDIA GeForce GTX 295 PCI-Express x16 - 1792MB - Single Card ) Case Lighting ( Cold Cathode Neon Light - Blue ) Power Supply ( 1000 Watt -- Thermaltake Toughpower W0155RU Power Supply - Quad SLI Ready ) Processor Cooling ( Coolermaster V10 Hybrid TEC CPU Cooling Fan System - Full cover of DRAM & CPU cooling for best cooling performance ) Hard Drive ( WD Velociraptor WD3000GLFS 300GB 16M Cache Hard Drive ) 2nd Hard Drive ( None ) Optical Drive ( None ) 2nd Optical Drive ( [** Special !!! ***] LG 22X Dual Format/Double Layer DVD±R/±RW + CD-R/RW Drive - Black ) External Hard Drives [USB 2.0/eSATA] ( None ) Sound Card ( 3D Premium Surround Sound Onboard ) Speaker System ( None ) Network Card ( Onboard LAN Network (Gb or 10/100) ) Floppy Drive ( None ) Monitor ( None ) Operating System ( None- Pre-formatted Hard Drive Only ) Warranty ( Standard Warranty Service - Standard 3-Year Limited Warranty + Lifetime Technical Support ) Advanced Build Options ( iBUYPOWER Specialized Advanced Packaging System - Protect your investment during transportation! ) Advanced Build Options ( Professional wiring for all cables inside the system tower - Achieve exceptional airflow in your chassis ) USB 2.0 Accessories ( Built-in USB 2.0 Ports ) Video Camera ( None ) Power Protection ( None ) Headset ( None ) Meter Display ( None ) Flash Media Reader/Writer ( 12-In-1 Internal Flash Media Card Reader/Writer - Black ) MP3/MP4 Player ( None ) USB Flash Drive ( None ) 2nd Monitor ( None ) Do you think this is a good build? Nintendo LAN Adaptor for Wii? quote Best Buy: Don't have a wireless Internet connection but want to enjoy the online functionality of your Nintendo Wii? No problem — just connect the LAN Adapter to your existing wired connection, plug it into the back of your Wii and you're set to play. The USB 2.0 connection is even faster than Wi-Fi for gaming with all the frills at high speeds.Connect the adapter right to your existing PC connection or DSL modem quickly and easily. The included 6' patch cable means you won't need any extra accessories. Using your existing LAN wired connection and the LAN Adapter, you'll be able to get the most out of the Wii's Internet functions. Product: http://reviews.bestbuy.com/3545/8193466/reviews.htm It says it comes with a 6' patch cable.. that is the cable that runs from the port on the LAN adaptor to the wireless router.. correct? Is it possible to get a wireless patch cable? I have built in wireless.. but everything lags.. nothing loads quick, and it takes forever to get on probably because of all the firewalls. So you can you get something that will plug into the port on the LAN cable, and something else that will plug into the router, connecting the two without a wire?
Help/thoughts on build? Okay, I am doing a new computer build that is using parts from my old PC, as well as newly bought parts, but a few things I need help with. For the processor I will be using AMD Phenom II x4 965 Black edition at 3.4ghz For the Video Card I will be using an ATI 5770 1 gig GPU Ram I will be re using from my old motherboard, and due to my funds, I will be getting a DDR2 Motherboard. Sound card and Networking will be integrated on the board My Hard drive, CD drive, all accessory drives I will be re using. My only two issues are, should I put it all in my current case, or get another one. I just don't know how I would afford it, and what PSU should I use? If I keep my current case, I have an area at the back for 120mm fan, and would prefer a modular PSU for less wiring, and I can pull the PC tower out of my desk (it sits in an alcove) and open the case to help it cool. But overall I want thoughts, help on a new build. I am trying to put it together for gaming/media/art and trying, TRYING to make it some what future proof. But my budget is 500 to 650 dollars, and this will be built/bought over 2 to 4 months. Networking Project help? Heres what ive done so far in the theory but im told its not right can anyone help? I have been hired to improve the communications and networking facilities of a local computer sales and repair shop in Sligo. The shop is a well known and popular business that provides technical support to a number of large companies in Sligo town. They also have a shop where they sell computers, computer accessories and also computer games. The building is made up of three floors. Preliminary Site Inspection Ground Floor •Two Rooms Sales Computer Room (MDF) The ground floor is mainly used for sales. There is only one computer on this floor. In the rear small room there is an MDF. First Floor •Two Rooms Repairs Store Room This floor is used for repairs. Everything from repairing laptops, pc’s and printers, reformatting and reinstalling operating systems, updating and upgrading machines, putting in RAM, hard drives, different processors and changing damaged parts, etc, will be done here, all the pc’s that are fixed are stored here. There is only one access point in the repairs room and one LDF. The store room has all the store stock in it.   Second Floor •Two Rooms Office (All Staff) Office (Currently unused) IDF One room will be used by payroll staff and will contain two PC’s. The manager will also have his own personal PC in this room. The third room is where the IDF is stored. Directly below this room is the repairs room which contains the IDF. Basic setup of Main Distribution Facilities (MDF) and Intermediate Distribution Facilities (IDF) All any company needs is one MDF. It must be beside the Point of Presence (POP) - where the internet provider (Eircom, etc) has set up access. In this company’s case, it will be set up on the first floor of the building. There will be a minimum of one IDF per floor. An example of where more than one IDF per floor would be needed is if a PC is more than 100 Metres away from the IDF. Each switch is connected with two TBASE1000 but only one of them is used for the connection as the other one is only there to provide a backup. You must route the cables in different directions because if there is building work, digging, etc, being done the wire could be damaged and if the two wires were in the same place then both wires would be damaged leaving the backup useless. The MDF has routers, switches and enterprise servers. The IDF has switches and work group servers (Word Processing, Print Servers and File Sharing). We will use Gigabyte Internet to connect up the main server, as this will make access to the server much quicker.   Future Requirements Ground Floor: I want to expand the access points on the floor for two or three display machines. In the other room, I want to include an MDF and also an enterprise server. First Floor: I want to upgrade this floor to have eight points (two per engineer). The reason for this is to provide a backup access point so that in the event of one of the connections breaking; they will have a spare one. If in future more engineers are employed, additional access points will already be in place meaning no additional installation will be required. There will also be a work group server added in here. All the stock and repairs will be in two rooms rather than one room. There will be one PC in the store room to track stock, repairs, etc. Second Floor: I would like to add another PC for the payroll staff. I want to upgrade the unused office and turn it into the manager’s office. It is necessary for the manager to have his own office, separate from the other staff to allow him privacy when dealing with company issues or any personnel related queries. All we need is one access point in this room. There will also be a work group server on this floor. The scalability of the network must be quite large so that it can grow without any major changes to the design being needed. For example, if we have fifty users, we need to make sure that the scalability is 200% so that more users can be added in future as the company expands. We must also have good adaptability of the network as today we might only be sending a data file but in the future we will more than likely want to send video links, etc. We will need to improve our internet range and abilities such as, remote access to other PC’s. So if a customer with internet access calls us with an issue, we can connect remotely and solve the problem there and then. In future if the company expands, I would like to add another building but would like to keep the network within one. I also want to set up a WAN so that if the boss wants to work from home he can access all the information he needs from his own pc. I am looking into using Skype phones in the business for a low cost communication option, to try to save money for the company due to the recession that is ongoing at the moment. Active Directory Every member of staff will be on the
Are Wired XBox 360 Controllers compatible with Emulators as well as "Games for Windows"? Well, I was thinking of buying a Wired XBox 360 Controller. The Keyboard Controlling is pretty cool, but at times awkward, such as when there are 8 buttons you need in an Arcade Game, or the pesky Nintendo 64 C-Buttons that make you waste time doing your jumping, etc. to move. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2253223&Sku=M17-4113&SRCCODE=GOOGLEBASE&cm_mmc_o=TBBTkwCjCVyBpAgf%20mwzygtCjCVRqCjCVRq ^ That's the site I plan to buy it off of. About 10 bucks less than the official Microsoft Site, which is handy, I suppose. http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/systemsetup/xbox360/accessories/wiredcontroller.htm You'll notice by scrolling down it DOES connect to the PC, with the use of a program. I can't find the link, it'd be helpful. So, my underlying question: Will it work with stuff like Project64, ZSNES, and NESTopia?
