PC hardware and PC gaming questions? I have 3 question (a lot, I know right?) the first is, is it safe to use a computer with the side pannel removed and a desk fan blowing on the hardware so it doesn't overheat? Second is, would I be able to do some moderate gaming on an AMD Athlon II x4 650 (3.2ghz) for a few months? I would replace it eventually. Last is, is the SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 6770 an okay card for modrate gaming? I don't mind playing on medium settings. Thanks for the help!!!

Gaming PC Question PLZ HELP? i don't know if i should get an i5 2500k with a single gtx 560, or get an AMD FX 4100 with gtx 560 SLI for my gaming rig, please help!
Nvidia GTX 770 Gaming Performance? Yes I have lately been busy looking for a good gaming PC for my money and one GPU that has caught my attention was the 770. It has very good specs considering all the past GTX Graphics cards and is close to the 780 and somewhat close to the 780 TI. Like I asked in my other question. Would this GPU be able to run almost every present generation and future generation games for a long time? In other words would the life span of this GPU last for a decent amount of time before upgrades would be taking place. If anyone has the GPU and could give me some benchmarks that would be awesome as well. And I am probably going to buy the regular stock Graphics Card by Nvidia not the overclocked by EVGA (Unless I can but for now just the regular 770). Thanks for the support!
Where to buy a gaming computer? I want to buy a Gaming PC but i don't know where to get it and i wont to know trusted places because some of them don't look professional. The reason i don't wont to build one is because i don't wont to mess it up and be out the money and still not have a PC. ( Not Alien ware because they are a little over priced)
iMac 27" with i7 and ATI HD 4850m 512MB a good gaming machine? Hey guys. I really really really wanna buy this iMac, but the thing holding me back is the GPU. I heard mixed reviews, many saying it's a good card, others saying it's a bad card. To make clear. I want this rig to play all of the games at 1920x1080 medium to high quality. Except of course games like Crysis or Metro 2033 (for these, maybe 1600x1200 medium-high quality). I want decent and playable framerates. I know I can't upgrade anything in the iMac, so that's why I am asking. A friend of mine has a desktop 9800GT 1GB and can do all the things I mentioned. Will this card play any game that has come out and will come out in the future, at a good framerate with good settings? I don't want to get a PC again, so don't tell me to. Thanks for any anwsers. I WILL GAME ON WINDOWS with Bootcamp, so don't tell me "How many mac games are there to game on a mac?". P.S. Some gameplay footage, or benchmarks would be appreciated.
Gaming pc help can't decide? I'm looking for a laptop that's powerfully enough to play the most recent games, and school. And I can't decide between the Alienware m17x, the hp envy dv7, or the ideapad y500. My limit is strictly limited. Here is the link to the m17x for the hp I would just pick it up from best buy and for the ideapad I would get the refurbished one on the bottom Now I know there will be someone that will say just get an Asus but I would they just look so dull and boring I don't nessecary need a backlash key but make it look cool. If someone can plus tell with of the three are dominate or send me a link with another laptop powerfull enough for at least 40 fps in games like bf3, cod, nfs, syndicate, sleeping dogs and easiest one mine craft. Pls don't talk to me about specs cause as my yahoo say I know nothing. To many numbers an fetters in one mixed up thingy. Thx btw I'm looking forward to getting a new pc by next week.

Build a gaming pc for under $700. Help? I am trying to build an AMD based budget gaming pc. I know quite a bit about hardware, however, I have not built a computer from scratch before. I would like something that can run Starcraft 2, Borderlands 2 and games with a similar demand in high/ultra settings. Intel is not an option. A solid state drive preferable, Radeon HD 7000 series preferable, and quad core is required (Preferably an A-series or Phenom II). I have "mapped out" and priced pc's that are under this total (not sure if everything was compatible, mainly PSU) so I know it can be done. I certainly love the advice so far. I have minimal experience with Intel (usually because of price, however, a dual core is not enough to handle EVERYTHING I do. Please suggest and Intel/Nvidia build if you think that is better. Ignore what I said above. :) I certainly love the advice so far. I have minimal experience with Intel (usually because of price, however, a dual core is not enough to handle EVERYTHING I do. good laptop for gaming / university? Hi, I'm looking for a really good laptop that will play all of the latest games and easy to type on for my university assignments. I can spend about $2000 or less. Harvard university has Dell Latitude E6220, Dell Latitude E6220, and Dell Latitude E6420 Workhorse that I can buy at a big discount, but they aren't gaming laptops. I was told by a friend that I should only get a SSD, what do you think? I was looking at the alienware mx14, but it doesn't come with an SSD. Well it does, but for $650 more. Can you help me decide? I have photoshop and the whole autodesk collection 2010. (maya)

Need gaming pc help? Im looking to build a pc that will run basically all games on max settings, do you think this will do the trick? Is there any compatibility problems? Also is there any unnecessary spending that i can cut that will save me money and is there any upgrades that will make a good difference without spending a lot more? I do plan on adding a ssd and running sli with two gtx 780s in the future. Macbook pro 13" gaming? I'm planning on buying myself a macbook pro and I was wondering if it is capable of running demanding games (on either windows 7 or iOS). I would rather buy the 13" due to price yet a 15" is not impossibly out of the question. The games I would really like to run are, assassin's creed brotherhood and (I know it hasn't been released but I know it will be demanding) Battlefield 3. I'm not a quality junkie so low quality is no issue for me. I currently have a Dell studio 15 2009 which can run Bad company 2 on low settings so if you could compare the gaming abilities to this it would be great. Please don't suggest getting a PC instead because I know they have better hardware for the price. thanks.
Is my pc underperforming in video games? My specs: Intel Q9400 2.6ghz processor overclocked to 3.6ghz Asus P5K-E motherboard 4GB Crucial Ballistix DDR 1066 with 5-5-5-15 timings ATI XFX 4890 1GB oc'ed to 915mhz core/1015mhz memory Western Digital 500GB 7200RPM hard drive 850w Thermaltake Black Widow Modular PSU In Far Cry 2 with Ultra High settings at 1920x1080 and no AA or AF my FPS are: Average Framerate: 18.77 Max. Framerate: 25.87 Min. Framerate: 14.52 Crysis Warhead with Gamer settings at 1920x1080 with no AA or AF gives me something like: Average Framerate: 24 Max. Framerate:31 Min. Framerate: 16 The overclock on my CPU is pointless, I only did it to prove it was not limiting the graphics card. Are these results really all I can expect out of a 4890? Tom's Hardware puts this cards performance at 66.1 FPS when playing Far Cry 2 at Ultra Settings, 1900x1200 and no AA or AF.,2433-7.html Hardware Canucks did a benchmark for Crysis Warhead and managed 26 minimum and 37 average fps at the same settings. (resolution 1900x1200) I realize both of these benchmarks used overclocked i7 processors and DDR3 RAM vs. my Core 2 Quad with DDR2 and that those should mean some increases in speed, but It doesn't seem like my system should be performing this badly in comparison. I've seen numerous benchmarks comparing the i7s to Core 2s and DDR3 to DDR2 and though there are some decent improvements, they don't really apply to video games. Am I wrong? I put everything back on stock clockspeeds and nothing changed. I went back into the BIOS and set all options to their defaults and BOOM! My games are flying at twice the speed now. :D Thanks a lot for the help! Silly me should have tried that earlier. You rock!
Running NFS Carbon on my PC, will i be able to? plzzz help...........? If it will, how well, would it work? And will there be any video lag in the gameplay or in the cutscenes? If it would happen, please specify which part of the game would get affected, gameplay or cutscenes or both or none???????? And if it will happen, will it help if i lower the graphical setting to make it run a bit fast or is it not needed? A site that can benchmark your PC or Laptop for games? for games if you haven't bought it yet? i.e. enter in your hardware, and it will run a test. It would make choosing one SO much easier! for games if you haven't bought it yet? i.e. enter in your hardware, and it will run a test. I already know about and I'm looking for a site that doesn't scan your computer, but will let me select the hardware I want it to test(since I haven't bought it yet). And, no. Need help building a gaming PC? I have a budget of 2k. I hoping this is enough for a strong enough build to play something such as Battlefield 4 on ultra settings or Skyrim is a ton of texture mods added. I'm a little worried to build instead of buy, even though I know it's the better option. This is something I noticed while browsing newegg, I don't know if I should go for it or not. Laptop is preferred, but after seeing videos on youtube, desktop seems to be the smoother expierence regardless of specs for some reason. forgot the link
What gaming PC components should I get? I am looking for the gaming PC components that will run well for the next 2-3 years! Good Cheap Gaming Desktops? I've been recently thinking of buying a gaming desktop. My price range is around the $800 maybe up to $1000 after i buy a monitor. All i really want is a computer that can play games like TF2, Skyrim, Fallout, Starcraft 2 on decent settings without me worrying about it exploding. I've come up with a couple while browsing the bestbuy website but i don't really know if they're good or not. These seem the best so far to me. Also if you know any computers that are good please give me links. I don't care what brand it is or the looks just as long as its a good computer. If i were to build my own desktop were would i start? is there a list somewhere for someone like me. i don't know how to solder things if that's even a requirement.
Time to Upgrade Gaming PC? Hey guys. My current specs are Core 2 quad q6700 2.66 ghz EVGA Geforce GTX 550ti 4GB DDR2 Ram 250gb hd Im on a budget so I want to upgrade to: Core i3 @3.1ghz. (Sandy Bridge) Radeon HD 7770 4gb DDR3 Ram 500gb HD. I guess my main question is will the Core i3 perform better in games than the Q6700? Since the i3 has hyperthreading it basicaly means that it has 2 actual cores and 2 virtual cores. So windows see's it as a Quad Core Proccesor. With this, will the i3 outperform the q6700? And how much do you think i could sell my current system for?
What would be the perfect specs for building a HTPC that's a home theater PC. Prefer AMD processor? Hardware and recommended software. Please be aware I've working with computers for years so I'm looking for top notch answers. Thank you in advance.

How can I improve my PC's game graphics without installing or using game settings? What can I do to make my PC handle graphics and lag less - outside of the obvious reducing visual settings in game or buying some graphic chippy-thingy and having it installed in my PC? I'm Windows Vista.
What is the cheapest rig I could build to run games on at least medium settings? I'm looking to build a computer, but I have a very tight budget. I want to run games like Battlefield 3, DayZ standalone (when it comes out), and many other games on at least medium settings with 40+ fps. So I'm looking for the cheapest build I could go with. (Hardware specs, games I could run, FPS on those games, and price would be all I'm looking for). Thanks. Edit: I do NOT want a console, because I can't play the games I want on it, and I already have a PS3.
Is the AMD Radeon HD 6870 good for running new games like the upcoming tomb raider game? I have recentley ordered a customised computer with the graphics card amd radeon 6870 and was wondering if it will work with the newest games such as tomb raider, sim city 5 and dead space 3. My friend has the 6970 and said it was fine and said that mine should be aswell but if an expert can confim this I will be very happy. Seen as I have just spent £,1,100 on my first gaming computer, I will be upset if it doesn't run any games. Thank-you for any help.

Question for all the PC gamers out there,What would the top ten rules of computer hardware maintenance be? Bought to step up my game to be a more high-end computer gamer. I was curious what the PC gamers consider as there highest aspects of building/mainting a gaming rig. (yes, i do frequently clean my case) Not talking about gameplay or repremanding a nOOb about what a graphics card is, just what do you do to acheive optimum game performance.
How can I find out what graphics card I am running? And few other related questions.? Got a new PC a few months ago but then my fiancee lost her job. Couldnt afford new games but now I can! I cant recall though what graphics card I put in the system nor how much RAM or any other important stuff. I want to see if my PC can run bioshock as well as a few games coming out soon like Left For Dead. Im not the best with hardware and cant recall how to tell what graphics card I put in the PC or any other important stuff like RAM. I would appreciate it if someone could tell me how to check for my Graphics Card, RAM or any other important stuff.
Could adding a case fan help cool my GPU? I'm planning on building a PC soon. My plan was to get a GTX 660 Ti from EVGA because it became pre-overclocked and the blower-type cooler won't interfere with my case cooling. However, after further research, I found out that the cooler on the card is very loud and whines a bit; and looking at the benchmarks, most other aftermarket GPUs performed about 20% better than from EVGA. A few review sites later, I thought it'd be best to go with ASUS design. But here's the thing. I'm worried about the cooler circulating hot air around the case to my hard drives, CPU cooler, etc. So I was thinking of getting a case fan both side-mounted and top-mounted to help get cool air in and hot air out. (Corsair 400R) I'll probably get Corsair AF140s which I heard were quiet, but I wonder if they'll be effective enough that I won't be wasting power (OCZ ZT 650w 80 Plus Bronze). Fan suggestions are appreciated and helpful. However, the case I'm strongly sticking with unless I can find another mid-tower with 2 USB 3.0, at least 3 included fans, and is easy to cable manage as this is going to be my first go at computer building.
How can I improve my PC to play Final Fantasy XIV? I would have asked on the official forums, but I don't have an account for that game and it won't let me sign up... This is a home PC by the way, with a tower and separate screen if that makes a difference. Thanks a lot! Thanks for the answer PopeJewish. I have 8GB of RAM, so I guess I just need to upgrade the GPU? What kind of GPU would you recommend and how can I install it? Can I find it in stores? I just updated my drivers myself and that helped a little too.
Can someone help me with a build of a gaming computer? Like all the parts ill need specifically and on a budget of $400? I'd really appreciate it. I'd like to stick with Intel and an 8 gb memory.
would this be a fair and smart video card trade to my friend? i just bought new pc that comes with 9800 gtx and has sli capability. my friend has a 8800 gt in his pc and an extra 8800 gt he doesnt use cause case doesnt have sli. If i trade my 9800 gtx for his 2 8800 gts to give us both instant better performance and i would save money from having to buy another 9800 gtx. this sound like fair deal?

How much would it cost for me to build a gaming PC? Okay, right now I have a Dell Vostro 200 and it is complete shit, I'm lucky to even get 30 FPS on minecraft..... So I have been looking into maybe building my own PC, and was wondering how much it would cost to make one. I'm on a budget, so I most likely wont spend over $1000... and I want to run things like Battlefield 3, Skyrim, Minecraft, DayZ, Planetside 2, mod a little, and other games at good FPS. Any recommendations on what to do, or even if there is a company that makes affordable computers like this. PLEASE go into detail with the answers, don't just say "$800". I also have to use this computer for school work so it cant only function as a gaming rig. And do you think I could get any money out of the Vostro I have currently!?
are there any good websites where i can order a custom gaming computer? and then they will send me the parts and instructions to build with the case,fans,CPU/Processor,mother board, power supply, etc. ??????

Why is there a constant argument over PC vs. Mac? They are both quality products (usually) and are capable of getting the job done based on one's needs. So what really makes one better than the other?

what do i need in a gaming computer? Im looking for a desktop. Im having trouble trying to find a computer that's right for my tastes. I want something that will last. I want it to run almost crystal clear, the graphics dont have to be amazing but i want it to run as smooth as possible. Maybe an even better question is, what is the key component in having a fast computer? Im most likely just going to use that computer for playing DayZ and Diablo 3. Probably other future games as well.

I don't know what is wrong and it's very frustrating. I need someone who can help. I am willing to give away computer specs, error logs, and benchmark results if you do offer to assist. All help is appreciated, thanks in advance.

Where to learn about computers? Can anyone point me to a website guide to help me learn about computers. I'm going to try and upgrade my computer but I have no idea what to look for. Any issues with these gaming PC builds? Hey guys/girls just a couple questions here, I'm building a really low budget $300 gaming pc for a buddy and can you let me know if you see anything wrong with this build, any bottlenecking going on? Friend's build; AMD athlon ii x2 3.1Ghz CPU MSI mobo, pretty high end dont know the name off the top of my head ATI radeon 4670 4GB ddr3 1333 450w PSU and a 500gb sata 3.0gb/s drive Also I am building a PC for myself aswell and this one is a little more fun ;) phenom ii x2 555 AsRock 870 extreme3 ATI readeon 4350 (reusing from old build till christmas)(no money in budget right now) 4GB ddr3 1600 550w PSU 500gb HDD For my build i plan on keeping the cpu at 2 cores but overclocking to 4.0 or 3.7 so there is no bottleneck being but on my old GPU then for christmas the 6870 will be coming in along with a new heatsink so that x2 can be a x4. Just wanna know what u think about these and what u think my benchmark FPS will be on for all 3 builds (mines split in 2, old configuration and new with new GPU) in 3 games. Dirt 3, portal 2, and the mother of all hardware demanding games, Crysis warhead.
Budget PC build, benchmark help?!? Building a budget PC for some casual gaming / media entertainment. -Hardware CD/DVD Burner Case/PSU 500Watt Combo Harddrive Motherboard AM3 socket GPU/Radeon 6570 RAM/DDR3 1333 Kingston 4gb CPU/AMD triple core Total Price: $346.93 Question how well will this machine run and if anyone had an idea of fps benchmark for recent games such as cod:black ops sc2 ect. ? Please leave comments if there should be any corrections to this build. Looking at spending 350 max on a machine.
My first budget gaming PC (revised from yesterday's question)... Any thoughts or suggestions? Here goes... Bear in mind that the hard drive is spacious enough to accommodate my needs and wants. I don't plan on cramming my hard drive with 500 gigs of trashy clutter (videos, pr0n, and all the fun stuff). I keep my hard drives clean and organized. Here we go. Motherboard: BIOSTAR H61MGC LGA 1155 Intel H61 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard. I know it's cheap, but according to Intel's website, it'll be able to handle Ivy Bridge processors when I need to upgrade. I also don't plan on running crossfire or SLI. Memory: Cheap, $23 g.skill memory -- 4gb DDR3 @ 1333. Pretty standard stuff. GPU: HiS Raedon HD 6870 1GB. PCI-E 2.0. ($170) CPU: i3 2100k @ 3.1GHz. 3MB cache. ($110) PSU: Corsair Builder Series CX500 V2 500W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply. +12 volts @ 34 amps. Single rail. PCI-Express Connectors: 2 x 6+2-Pin. SATA Power Connector: 5. NOTE: After several benchmark tests, I'm fairly certain 500 watts is more than enough power to accommodate the hardware in this build. There's about ~70 watts of headroom from the benchmarks' recommended wattage, so I feel like I have enough headroom. ($60) Hard Drive: Western Digital 250 GB Caviar Blue SATA 6 Gb/s 7200 RPM 16 MB Cache Bulk/OEM Desktop Hard Drive. ($65) Again, I don't need more than 250 gigs. Case: Rosewill Blackbone Black Steel case. Comes with 2 x120mm fans in the front and rear. ($40) Optical Drive: Generic, cheap DVD-R / RW drive. Salvaged from my old computer. -- A few side notes... 1600 frequency RAM seems to offer negligible increases in performance from what research I've done. I think I'll stick with slightly cheaper 1333 memory. I'm a little concerned about CPU / GPU bottlenecks in my build for certain games, though.
Why should I keep windows 7 ultimate installed? I hate it!? Bewarned this is more of a rant then a question. Read at own boredom risk! Im getting tired of this, I see all these good reviews on windows 7 and this is the second time I have installed it. First time I thought maybe i was just Bias against it. and i never took a second take. This time I did and with all my stuff. Keep in mind im an xp fanatic and I have never had any problems with xp. Whats the point in 7? for games? music? Videos? Xp can do all those things as well. And it can do all of them faster. I see some benchmarks that say xp is faster, others say 7 is faster. Well I saw for myself and xp is faster. This ofcourse is on a fresh install. Now i realize that not only is 7 not better then xp. It has more problems then id like to mess around with. First of all, All i need is to be able to play my music files, Download turrents, watch videos and play PC games. My hardware is pretty good so I can play most of the newest and highest demanding games out there. And I can do all of this on xp. So why should I stick with 7? Because its convenient? HA! I spent an hour trying to get my wireless router trying to work. For some reason windows couldnt install the belkin wireless card properly until I forced it to by going into control panel. Also my C&C Zero hour game is also not full screen like it was in xp. I have a monitor that can support 1366 - 768 in both xp and 7. But in 7 not only are all the icons much bigger at the same resolution but the game Isnt full screen its centered. The ONLY plus side I see on 7 is that it can read all 4 gigs of ram. Ive got my own software as far as dvd burning, Mounting, p2p software, etc. IS 7 supposedly good because you dont have to download this stuff? OH and not to mention it takes up almost 10 gig. I mean I know its on my side for only having a 40gig harddrive but come on. What the hell could possibly be on 7 that takes up that much freakin space. Xp only takes up 2-3? I can also customize xp better, such as the darkmatter theme(google it, Its alsome) Sorry for the rant there. Im just pretty pissed off. I just want to know why every likes 7 so much. I would like to keep 7 but im not waiting for all these supposed microsoft add ons that are gonna start making it much more better and popular. I got 5 months until I go into the service and im not messing with this damn OS if its no better then xp And to think Im already frustrated the first day. I cant imagin If i had all of my games installed, who knows what problems Ill run into first off the harddrive is fine. its small but fine. I have a 8200 nividia geforce chipset, amd athlon x2 6000+ and corsair 800mhz duel channel 4 gig memory. i just didnt feel like buying a harddrive. Harddrive is FINE! and yes it may be because im alittle resistant to change, but why change if not nesary. and no it is not user error, dont insult me. The past couple weeks I have been experimenting with different anti virus programs and have installed xp SEVERAL times. each time I had no problem installing the nesary software to play all my games, change themes, music etc. ?
PLEASE ANSWER - CALLING ALL HARDWARE WIZARDS - SYSTEM SPEC COMPARISON - NEED TECH WIZARD KNOWLEDGE! PLEASE!!!? These are for comparison. I have seen many reviews and though AMD are cheaper and perform well some say that the Phenom II’s can hardly compete with even the Core 2’s. Though I don’t trust these statements entirely as I’ve seen benchmark tests and the Phenom II X4 955 comes close to the Core i7 920; sometimes even surpassing it in real test environments. Here I will lay down the systems I have pre-built using I’m looking for a system that will last 5 or more years. Is reliable, over clockable, good value, powerful, upgradeable and will be very adequate for gaming. If anyone can make a better gaming rig with my £950 budget you are more than welcome to try on Sometimes when it comes to the motherboard I wanted 3 way SLI or Crossfire, over 2, because I know it’s more future proof…. But then my original AMD decision was DDR3 and saving money in the intel area means going back to the more soon-to-be obsolete DDR2. With Triple Channel DDR3 on the i7's here and increasing speeds there, it is only a matter of time before DDR2 succumbs to the same fate of DDR. Here are each of the three system specs. Remember you are more than welcome to build a system on pcspecialist and e-mail me through Yahoo Answers but this must be based up to NO MORE than £970 GPB. So from what I read ATI Radeon 6670 in Crossfire is stronger than a single 6870 should I get 2 6670s? I'm sorta on a budget, trying to keep my video card cost at a max of $140 and from what I read on Tom's Hardware benchmarks the 6670 in Crossfire is faster than a single 6870, and much cheaper, should I go for it? I found a $70 6670: Hers the benchmarks: 1.,2663.html 2.,2659.html 3.,2660.html 4.,2662.html

How come i get low FPS in GTA4? (PC)? Hi. First, stop deleting my questions! Atleast tell me why. GTA 4 is a game from 2007 right? How come modern hardware can´t keep up? On the benchmark test i got an average of 23fps, it dropped mostly when the helicopter was shooting exploding rockets. Is there something wrong with my PC? Everything was set to the highest quality in 1920x1080, and i tried closing backup programs. Also it might be worth mentioning that i use 2 screens. My specs are: Gigabyte P55A-UD3 i-5 760 Radeon 6970 from Gigabyte (the one with 900mhz) 8bg of memory (4x2 at 1333mhz)
how much performance increase does a core 2 duo e6350 have over a sempron 3400+ is there a huge difference? i was going to buy a new pc and i was taking a look at some of the cheap and good computers and the man there advised me to buy this computer and here are it's full specs: Intel core 2 duo e6350 2.85GB ram Geforce 9800 GT WDC WD 1200 BB.... Harddrive. Windows xp profesional Now i was taking a look at couple of the benchmarks at toms hardware and it cleary proves to me that the core 2 duo is no more then 25 to 30% faster then my current computer: Amd sempron 3400+ 3GB ram 8800 GTS vid card windows vista ultimate. here are some benchmarks that prove to me that the duo core is not that much faster then my old computer these benchmark compares things like gaming vid encoding and etc, the duo core will knock out the sempron but not by really much maybe 20% difference:,384.html,387.html,370.html,382.html have a look at couple of these benchmarks and don't say to me wtf are you on about the duo core beats it in eveything, yes it beats it in everything and then don't say it but it beats it by close to double the score take a look again people at some benchmarks it does but not at everything infact it some benchmakrs i didn't mention there the duo core beats the sempron only by 2 points then is duo core e6350 a lot faster then a sempron is it worth the money i don't think so. i'll give 10 points for the best answer.

Have we reached a plateau in graphics for PC? With the release of Crysis has come a whole new benchmark for graphics detail and with it some heafty system requirements (for high graphics setttings). Currently with the most powerful graphics card (8800 GTX Ultra) and Windows Vista DX10 you cannot play the game at "high" settings without significant performance issues (less than 30 fps). Now you don't have to be a genius to understand that a gaming rig that is top of the line is very expensive. Should developers continue pushing the envelop on graphics detail when the system reqs are so steep you need a 3-4 thousand dollar computer and a 1000 watt or more power supply just to ge the most out of it? I'm thinking law of diminishing returns here. I'm still really impressed with a lot of DX 9 games like COD4, Rainbow 6 Vegas, Gears of War for Widows, STALKER, etc. Should we really want DX 10? And just so you know I have a really good gaming rig and am not opposed to having good hardware just not insane hardware. Thanks for your thoughts
Running Games on my Laptop? I want to try to run Street Fighter IV, so I tried "Can You Run It?" And I got this: Minimum CPU-PASSED Minimum: Intel Pentium 4 2.0GHz or higher You Have: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor TK-42 CPU Speed-PASSED Minimum: 2.0 GHz You Have: 1.6 GHz Performance Rated at: 2.4 GHz RAM-PASSED Minimum: 1 GB You Have: 2.7 GB Video Card-PASSED Minimum: DirectX 9.0c/Shader3.0 or higher compatible, NVIDIA GeForce 6600 series, ATI Radeon(TM) X1600 or higher or higher, VRAM :256MB or higher You Have: ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics Video RAM 256 MB 1.4 GB Hardware T&L Yes Yes Pixel Shader version 3.0 4.0 Vertex Shader version 3.0 4.0 I passed everything on Minimum for SFIV. I passed everything on Recommended too, except: Recommended: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHz or higher You Have: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor TK-42 Now that was Vanilla SFIV, let's try AE on YouGamers: <--- That's what I got. So what do you guys think? Possible? I don't run PC games at full screen either I run them in a window at 640 x 480 if that helps. Thanks :) I also did the benchmark and only got 30 FPS...which I do not understand because I can run Team Fortress 2 on High lol
There is something wrong with my pc when it is running videogames? My games fps are WAY low than they should be, for example, here is the benchmark on GTA IV, my specs are there. Statistics Average FPS: 14.57 Duration: 37.47 sec CPU Usage: 98% System memory usage: 71% Video memory usage: 93% Graphics Settings Video Mode: 1920 x 1080 (60 Hz) Texture Quality: High Shadow Quality: High Reflection Resolution: Very High Water Quality: Very High Texture Filter Quality: Anisotropic x16 Night Shadows: High View Distance: 22 Detail Distance: 50 Hardware Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate Service Pack 1 Video Adapter: NVIDIA GeForce GTS 450 Video Driver version: 275.33 Audio Adapter: Altavoces (Logitech USB Headset) Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8500 @ 3.16GHz File ID: Benchmark.cli And with everything set on low, i get 18 fps average. The same thing happens with every other game, for example: Company of Heroes with 30 fps, Call of Duty modern warfare 2 with 35 fps. Please help me guys, this is frustrating. I playe with a resolution of 1920x1080, and lowering it only improves it by 2 or 3 fps. Help!!!!!!
Do mac people make you want to choke on your own vomit? Seriously, macs are no better than pc's, there's benchmark tests to prove it. They're just more expensive and sometimes prettier, with less software and games and less hardware customizing yet mac people have this elitist mentallity that is just ignorant regurgitation from macs excellent marketing team Oh and to drew, your mac "pro" is slower than my pc from 2004 and no its not a sidekick its a 32gb g1. Oh are you sad you can't upgrade your iphone either:(
4870 1G or 260 GTx (core 216 tech)? Hey guys, I am about to build my PC and i can't tell wats better the 4870 1g or the GTX 260 (216 core technology) and p.s. to those who don''t know, this is new hardware realised to make the GTX 260 faster) I have seen benchmarks of the same games where different video cards beat eachother. any1 kno (and i will be overclocking it by 10-18%)
Macbook pro compared to my current computer...? My current computer is a gateway p series notebook with a intel dual core processor at 2.26 ghz with 3mb cache, 4 gigs of ram, and an nvidia geforce 9800m gts with 1 gig of video memory. I am looking at the current mac book pro 17 inch with an i7 2.66 ghz, 8 gb of ram, and an nvidia 330 gts with 512 mb of video memory. I have searched for reviews on mac book pro benchmarks to compare to my computer but all the articles i have found feature a lesser geared 15 inch mac book or an older generation. I would like to have a general idea on how it would compare to my computer, really the only game I run is world of warcraft, but I do raid in it so I am seeing the most hardware demanding side of it. I know that a lot of people say macs just run better than PCs but it seems their hardware comes out less. unless there is something in the OS for macs that make better use of that hardware. It would seem my computer would run at least games just as good with the extra video memory.
Will a 500w power supply be sufficient for these specs? I'm building my first ever pc and need to know if the power supply unit will be enough to power the following: Radeon HD 6870 2gb v-card (Ranked 15th on benchmark) Intel I7-2600 8GB G-skill ram @ 1333mhz 250GB SATA HDD 7200RPM Also can you tell me if I will be able to max out any of the current games and also the possible short comings of my hardware choices. Overall the price for my build (including bluray reader/ CD + DVD writer, the case, motherboard and OS) comes to just over £500.

How can I upgrade my computer so it runs more frames per seconds? I have been playing League of Legends for about 7 ~ 9 months now, and just recently, my frames are dropping very low. My regular frames per second averages around 17FPS. I found out this is REALLY low when everyone else I know has at least 40FPS when playing League. My settings for the game is all Very Low, so I still don't understand why. The frame cap is Benchmark, my usual ping is about 30, unless another person in my family is using it. Anyways my computer specs are: OS NameMicrosoft® Windows Vista™ Home Basic Version6.0.6002 Service Pack 2 Build 6002 Other OS Description Not Available OS ManufacturerMicrosoft Corporation System ManufacturerGateway System ModelT3646 System TypeX86-based PC ProcessorAMD Sempron(tm) Processor LE-1250, 2200 Mhz, 1 Core(s), 1 Logical Processor(s) BIOS Version/DatePhoenix Technologies, LTD 6.00 PG, 11/10/2007 SMBIOS Version2.4 Windows DirectoryC:\Windows System DirectoryC:\Windows\system32 Boot Device\Device\HarddiskVolume2 LocaleUnited States Hardware Abstraction LayerVersion = "6.0.6002.18005" Time ZonePacific Standard Time Installed Physical Memory (RAM)2.00 GB Total Physical Memory1.87 GB Available Physical Memory776 MB Total Virtual Memory3.99 GB Available Virtual Memory2.19 GB Page File Space2.17 GB Page FileC:\pagefile.sys Edit: I forgot to ask, if I do upgrade it or buy a new computer, how much do you think it should cost? I saw the websites. They vary from 500 ~ 2000 dollars. I don't know if I can afford it. Do you know where I can find the graphics cards and processors by themselves?
Help optimizing my computer for World of Warcraft.? I ave recently been looking into overclocking my pc and other edits. Within the last few weeks I went from averaging 40-50 fps in wow with medium video setting at a nice resolution. I have been tweaking my system lately and over the last few days my fps has dropped to about 20-30. I have already disabled half of my addons, changed my res to 800x600,disabled all special video effects, and turned all videos settings as low as possible. the following are the results of a Nova2 benchmark test and my system specs: NovaBench Score: 134 9/22/2009 1:26:15 AM Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium AMD Athlon(tm) Processor LE-1620 @ 2400 MHz Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 894 MB System RAM (Score: 35) CPU Tests (Score: 68) - Floating Point Operations/Second: 34503585 - Integer Operations/Second: 14596895 - MD5 Hashes Generated/Second: 16607 Graphics Tests (Score: 0) - Random Lines Drawn/Second: 14 - Random Shapes Drawn/Second: 20 Hardware Tests (Score: 31) - Primary Partition Capacity: 140 GB - Drive Write Speed: 21.59 MB/s My virtual memory is currently at 2 gigs per hardrive(i have 2). Any tweaking suggestions or thoughts on what coudl have caused this drastic drop in game quality? Thanks! This is all referencing my World of Warcraft settings. I actually increased my benchmark from 109 to 139 by tweaking vista settings, but my vista setting have not changed in quite some times. Which is what the problem is. By lowering settings in WoW my fps(frames per second) didn't get any better. One day I just logged on and went from 50-60 fps to 20-30 fps and lowering my settings didn't make it any better.
Why is GTA 4 running slowly on my PC? I bought the game today and it is running extremely slow. I recently bought my laptop and it exceeds the minimum requirements.
