Consoles or PC? Which is better?
I will be getting a PC soon though for WoW at least $2000 If you want best you better give a good reason. I prefer consoles cause the controller just feels right especially for FPSs. I hate that PCs get outdated so quickly so I would have to buy a really expensive one to feel safe. Plus I want big screen 1080p.
What are the hottest new gaming consoles nowadays?
I'm 28 and literally haven't been in the gaming world for about 15 years. I would like to start playing games again. What kind of consoles are out there currently, including handhelds? Furthermore, I use to love RPG's like the Final Fantasy series, Secret of Mana, Earthbound, etc. What is good for RPG's currently? (*not* looking for multiplayer online games like World of Warcraft, but I would still be interested in PC titles) Somebody ought to have fun with this question :D
Thinking about switching my gaming from Xbox 360 to PC. Opinions?
I've been gaming for about 7 years. I like shooters and mostly RPG games. Some of my favorite games are Fallout 3, Rage, Mass Effect, KotoR, and Modern Warfare. Anybody have opinions or advantages? Maybe just add it to my gaming instead of switching completely? Thoughts are appreciated. Yes. I play mostly offline. And I like variety. Playing lots of different games. If any of that helps.

First Gaming Pc for...?
I am trying to find a gaming pc for about $800, maybe $900 if it's worth it. If anyone has recently bought one or just feels like selecting the parts for me that would be awesome :) I'm not really looking to run every new game on ultra but would enjoy to play some newer games on about medium graphics with ease. I have been messing around on the cyberpower custom config. but it doesn't seem to have that great of selections after you step below the $1,000 mark. If I can get better parts by ordering the parts individually and build it myself then that's what I would like to do. This is my first build so I pretty much just need something to get me going. Any help is appreciated :p

High-end Gaming PC or Xbox360?
As a kid, I always had the desire to buy the best PC hardware. Regardless, the best graphics card is overkill for today's PC games. It also costs $600.00 and how many games maximize its capabilities? Crysis seems to be the only game I'm interested in that does. I have hard time justifying $2500.00 for a gaming PC when the Xbox360 has a larger selection of next-generation games. The PC has a larger selection of games, but most games released beyond the year 2004 do not take advantage of the latest hardware. The Xbox360's games' graphics are not quite as good as Crysis's graphics, but there's the price difference too. A good HDTV and an Xbox360 costs about $1,300. I have a desire for a high-end gaming PC though.. Is a $2500 gaming PC more worthy than an Xbox360?

Help me get into PC gaming!?
I really want to get PC gaming cause I found out that PC gaming has better graphics, controls, can mod levels, and just has a better selection of games. my PC can't even run a N64 emulator so you can imagine how frustrating it is. I want to know what exactly I need to buy (what kind of computer for gaming, what type of keyboards are used for gaming, and where to buy games cause gamestop doesn't have any) to have the best or good enough at a decent price. I would rather get a nice quality PC but at the same time I don't have a whole lot of money. any suggestions?
Is this a good budget gaming PC?
I don't have much money, so this will go towards just the tower of the PC, a budget of 500 GBP (776.62 USD). So anyway, here are the parts: PC Case - http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/prods/components/cases/cases/novatech/nov-night.html nVidia GeForce GTX 460 Video card Novatech PowerStation Gaming 600W Silent ATX2 Power supply (Xfire/SLI) AMD Athlon II X4 630 Quad-Core Processor (2.8GHz) ASUS M4A87TD/USB3 - AMD 870 Motherboard (Xfire/SLI) Corsair CMV4GX3M2A1333C9 2 X 2GB DDR3 SDRAM Memory Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 ITB Hard drive, SATA Liteon IHAS324-32 24x Internal DVDRW Black Retail SATA Xilence Red Wing Quiet Fan X2 120mm All of this comes up to 459.29 Pounds (713.37 dollars) A friend has some spare parts, that I can use to further reduce the costs if I need then, I will look for optical drive, hard drive, RAM, Windows. Everything else I will buy! I will be playing games like Crysis, Black Ops, Bad Company 2, GRID, DiRT 2, games that use DX11. I will be playing in full HD resolution, later date if I need to overclock CPU, I will buy liquid cooling and overclock if necessary. Is this a good budget gaming pc for someone who is almost broke?
Why do games play poorly on my new computer?
I just bought a new Gateway LX computer that has the following stats: Quad Intel Processor 2.33 ghz 8 gb of ram Dual 512 MB NVidia Graphics Cards (GeForce GT 120) So here is the problem, when I play my first game whatever it might be. It plays fine, smooth as butter. As soon as I exit the game and try to play another game more often than not it will run extremely laggy. If I restart my computer it seems to flush out whatever was causing the issue, but its annoying. I would like to be able to switch from game to game to game without having to restart each time in fear that the game will come up laggy. I think I have enough power that this shouldn't be an issue. OS Windows Vista Premium 64 bit
PC gaming or Console gaming?

Also i would like to know b/c im thinking about getting a new gaming computer or a new console. Thanks for ur opinon Id like to add that i am a very big gamer..i spend most of my day playing games..and i am very good with computers so the control thing isnt a big issue...i was just wondering wat would be more woth my money and would be cheaper to do over time..like upgrading a comp be cheaper then buying a whole new game console in around 3 years.. i am also i big multiplayer person..single player games get boring after a while..but playing against other people keep it new and more fun for me..so which do u think has a better multiplayer...and multifunction instead of just gaming

Battlefield 2142 1 game, 1 cd key on 2 computers?
I've installed B2142 on my home pc, and I've played the game.. Now I wanna go at an internet place (a public place with many pc's) and play the game there..! The guy who runs the shop told me I have to enter my cd key in order to play the game there (and as soon as I restart the pc it will auto-format so it will lose any saved data). So I've tried entering my key, it rejected it couple of times, by the 4th time it accepted it... I logged in my account, I saw my stats, selected a server, loaded the map.. and when I'm about to start, the game crashes back at the server selection screen...! Any ideas why this is happening? Can't I use the same cd key on 2 different computers? (of course I'm not running both computers at the same time..) please assist! :)
PC software selections disappearing? (Gone perhaps?)?
First of all Do you miss the days when you could just waltz right into a electronics store and over with the game console software you had a choice of PC software both for adults and for you're children often with a little bit for everybody and someone would be happy? Better yet do you miss the days where they had stores JUST for PC's? Some stores would do only repairs which can in handy if they didn't rip you off while some did software too where you can buy new computers. The bad news with that was the graphics card would be outdated next year! Does anybody know why it's so dang hard to find any PC games in stores? Here in Salem Oregon even the old bargain bin software is no longer available and several computer stores here in Salem Oregon went out of business leaving only Fry's Electronics (Wilsonville Oregon) or Best Buy which we and other people we know have had bad experiences with the latter. Fry's Electronics at least has tech people who know their stuff and will install things for you for a fee which is worth it if you are going to build a computer and can answer questions like *What is a good graphics card for xxx* if you can give a basic description of you're computer speed and graphics board. It used to be even Wal Mart and Target had a cheapo section often with the same title sitting there for years usually some random hidden object game or addons for The Sims mixed with a bunch of violent stuff.
Call of duty won't work on PC?
I have a Dell intel Core 2 Duo Processer with 1.83 GHz memory. Call of duty requires Intel Pentium 4 3.0 GHz or better to work. Is this why the game just freezes when I am about to play it?
Help on a gaming setup? I am new to gaming.?
Well I have about 1300-1800 dollar budget. Lower is better but id pay extra if I felt it was worth it. How much would a good gaming computer cost to build?
I'm not asking for a monster gaming computer that would cost around $3000. I'm talking about a suitable one that can get atleast 45 fps on first person shooters with max graphics. I've seen some good ones for $600, but I'm willing to spend $1000 - $1500.
I want to start getting an idea of the gaming rig I want to put together soon, help?
I'm no pro at computer hardware, but within the next year I want to start putting together a somewhat epic gaming rig, something that won't go obsolete in a while, and something that will run games at their maximum. I need some help choosing a pre-built, yet upradeable desktop. I can get the accessories myself. Where should I start looking at pre-built computers? I will upgrade them later on, but I need one that will perform extremely well without having to be upgraded right away. Thanks!

Why are all the cool things only for Apple products?
For example, I have a capacitive touch screen monitor for a windows pc. All I want is a stylus to draw with. But I can't find a pressure sensitive stylus that is windows capable. And what irritates me the most is I read about all these new stylus and other cool gadgets coming out but it is only compatible with Apples IOS!! While not a sound for any sort of development on windows products. How hard is it to make it compatible for both systems? Is it because Microsoft is just to diverse in it's hardware? I don't get it. While windows has tablets and other devices coming out with pressure sensitive stylus, it's great, but those tablets aren't as powerful as a desktop. And that irritate me to death!! Because Why would I buy a whole new device, just for one upgrade, and 100 downgrades? This is where I believe apple has an advantage though, Because their devices are limited, and they are the only people making their devices. So their operating system isn't on over 1000 different devices, its only on a small few, which allows developers and engineers to work around just those few devices, and not have to worry about capabilities of other devices. If Microsoft stopped releasing their software, and made devices themselves, I think things would be much more organized over there. And there would be more development for windows. I Also Like the adonit jot 4!! But guess what? It's features only work on ios devices!!! GOD Why isn't anyone developing anything for windows!!! Most can't afford a mac, so why!!! Typing this I realized I answered my own question. The reason why There are more useful accessories for apple, is because their hardware is limited, and their different product lines all use similar hardware, which enables developers to not have to worry about millions of other different devices and aspects that they would have to do to get it to work with all of them. They just have to focus on a certain few. For example, they only have one tablet, one Imac, desktop computer. And developers would only have to focus on what they want to work with. Apple chooses what they think is best, and only releases what they think is best. Which enables them to be organized. While Microsoft, Has one hardware company doing this, another doing this, and another doing something else. Which confuses a developer or engineer on which they should focus on. This makes microsoft hard to work with. And now Android is following microsoft's foot steps. Which i don't think is a good idea. I might just buy a mac. If you read Adonit's forum, they say it works with all devices, but the pressure sensitvity and palm rejection only works for Ios. Also, Most of the software released for microsoft, Mac doesn't need. Like virus protection, spyware, and things along those lines. Why does apple need that?

Building a gaming desktop - What do I need to know?
I've only worked with the insides of computers a few times before, and I've never built one from the ground up, but my 7 year old PC just isn't cutting it for the new games out these days and it's time to get a new one. I've heard that building your own PC isn't as worth it these days as it once was, but to me building my own computer is more about the experience I would gain from doing it than the savings I'd get on the parts. So worth it or not, my mind's made up. Right now I'm really into Planetside 2, which runs like a nightmare on my current PC. Running PS2 at high framerates without sacrificing graphics quality is very important to me, but I also want to build this computer to be able to handle future games as well. I know that PS2 doesn't multi-thread very well, so CPUs with fewer cores are ideal (I think, I'm still new to this), but for the sake of it performing well in other applications in the future I plan on installing at least a quad core CPU. In short, just because I like Planetside 2 doesn't mean that I want to build this PC just to run Planetside 2, though running it well is critical. I've been looking at some key pieces of hardware over the last few days, and I've made a few selections so far, with links in brackets: *CPU - Intel Core i7-3770K Ivy Bridge 3.5GHz (3.9GHz Turbo) LGA 1155 77W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 4000 BX80637I73770K ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116501 ) *Motherboard - ASUS Rampage IV Formula LGA 2011 Intel X79 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131808 ) *Video Card - ASUS GTX660-DC2O-2GD5 GeForce GTX 660 2GB 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121660 ) *SSD - SAMSUNG 840 Pro Series MZ-7PD256BW 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147193 ) *RAM - I haven't decided for sure on yet, but something like G.SKILL Trident X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2600 (PC3 20800) Desktop Memory Model F3-2600C10D-8GTXD ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231591 ) Are these parts compatible with each other? What kind of power supply will I need to run these well? I would like to do some serious overclocking with this build, what kind of cooling system will I want? I've tried to select the best of the best for gaming, but are there better parts out there? I barely know what I'm doing, so any advice or feedback is greatly appreciated.

A video game question for yall?
I really enjoy game ever since the SNES times. My friend custom made a PC for gaming, so I thought is it possible to create or custom make a game console that plays any or all of the 3 console in the market (Xbox , PS, Ninty ) I'm really noob on this topic, but I would consider making a console or PC from scratch, just need to know if it is possible and what parts to buy or look at. Thank you.
Are The Build-A-Gaming-PC Online Stores Good?
I've been visiting some websites and people are saying that build your own PC's are the way to go nowadays for better hardware and cheaper prices. But since I am not the best at building an actual computer, I was looking at the sites like iBuyPower, and such where they will build it for you themselves, but with your selections of hardware. Are these deals worth it? Or is there any tutorial on how to put a PC together? haha. Thanks

Best Online Retailer for PC Components in the United Kingdom!?
I live in the UK, and though I've never built a PC before I am willing to build myself a £900 gaming rig, with a good processor and graphic card, good memory and a blu-ray player. I have been on some UK websites and wow the prices are good but then I hear things like, "their after sales server is terrible". For example, overclockers.co.uk has great prices but they're considered "cowboys" and their manager is extremely rude and they spell out continuous lies. That to me, by anyones standard is an utter disgrace. I'd rather have nothing as mentioned of the above. I do indeed want to use a UK website which has good prices, but I also want a website that has good after sales support and if something is faulty will be RMA'd or whatever it's called. Replaced or something? On the other hand. When I went to www.scan.co.uk another surprise hit me. A cheaper MSI 790FX-GD70 AMD 790FX AM3 Socket motherboard even cheaper than overclockers.co.uk however, their RAM was DOUBLE THE PRICE! Can you believe it!? I am not paying 140 quid for Dual Channel DDR3, that is beyond belief! Then came delivery issues, I've read Overclockers.co.uk has disgraceful delivery and coupled with a nasty arse manager wouldn't go down great. Then there is Aria which has expensive delivery. Then there is www.scan.co.uk which requires you to sign up to another website's forum and post 20 or more times (without it being considered spam) to avoid a £20 delivery charge. I want a website which has good prices, great after sales support, good delivery (possibly free) and can have faulty equiptment replaced, and isn't run by cowboys who insult you if you ring up and tell them the faults with your hardware. Is there even such a website or am being unrealistic? This is my first build, and I don't know if it's risky. I will be getting Arctic Silver of some kind and two anti static bands one for myself and one as a replacement or for my father. I know Intel is powerful but it's great at number crunching and when AMD comes along in the gaming arena I've seen in real-life test the AMD Phenom II X4 955 out-beat the Core i7 920. So that's the processor picked. The mobo above amazingly which I found is considered better and giving 5/5 everywhere I've been, every forum member I spoke to says they would pick it over the Crosshair III Formula. So that's sorted. So now it's just time I find a DECENT buyer with good prices, aftersales and delivery. I only have £800-900 - I originally was going to get it pre-built by PCspecialist.co.uk or Arbico.co.uk but it turned out the mobos for selection were absolutely useless. I then decided Intel but the money started adding up. I know this question is long but does anybody have any tips for a noob gaming RIG builder. I'm not good with fiddling things and I'm worried about applying thermal paste to the CPU and heatsink. I'm worried I'll screw it up. Also where else does thermal paste go, could someone list all the places (maybe for this build I will list below) thermal paste will go. Thanks to everyone who answers, I will read your answers shortly, most informative and thorough will get their points. Thanks again. FX - the noob PC builder on a 900 max budget! :D note: Buying In GPB £££ Not Dollas. Newegg.com does not ship to the UK so don't mention it. ;) Feel free to E-mail me folks. Do not IM. I can communicate via e-mail to people on a regular basis so this would be beneficial to the advice I recieve and my gratitude towards you. Dean. I'm not made of money bud. £800 preferably - £900 Max. lol an I'm on AMD for budget reasons but they perform and overclock well compared to the Core i7 920 but is so many 100's of pounds cheaper than the i7's. Remember my budget mate. Edit your answer if need be. Thanks FX I forgot to add the build I want. I'll decide on other components but these are what I will be having. AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition (3.2ghz) MSI 790FX-GD70 AMD 790FX Socket AM3 Motherboard Corsair Dominator XMS3 4GB (2x2GB DDR3 1600CP9 (72.99 on Overclockers.co.uk but was over double on Scan.co.uk as mentioned above, was about £160) ATI Radeon 4890 1GB or ATI Radeon 4870x2 1GB or Two Radeon 4870's in Dual X16 Crossfire. LG Blu-Ray player (Approx £60-70) :) PEACE AHHH that was the one. CCL has the double price RAM. I went on there earlier, their website is useless, they won't win the award for 09 I can bet. Sorry mate, thanks anyway This build is completely from Scratch, from the ground up. This PC I am on is like 5 years old and is useless. This is my first build as well remember. Please take everything said into account this message is long enough already. Thanks Info. I know about System Specifications. I know what's good and what's bad. I'm asking simply about Online Retailers and some advice on building my computer.
How do you get Max Pain to work on your PC?
Hi... i recently downloaded max pain on my computer. i hav 2GB ram, around 150mb of graphics card, and 2.2GHz processor.. any ideas why it doesnt work... i have windows XP profesioal! MAX PAYNE READ ME Congratulations! Thank you for purchasing MAX PAYNE. This document contains important information about Max Payne, please read it through carefully. Last Minute Notes Bullet Time Aid: The Game Options menu contains a new selection called Bullet Time Aid. The Bullet Time Aid helps players to conserve Bullet Time by automatically switching off Bullet Time when performing a Shootdodge, and prevents the player from accidentally re-enabling Bullet Time during a Shootdodge. Additionally, when you run out of ammo or switch guns, Bullet Time is automatically switched off. Bullet Time Aid is enabled by default. Key Names: The menus read key names directly from Windows. This means that key names will change depending on your localized Windows version. For example with US versions of Windows, the mouse buttons are referred to as MB1 for left and MB2 for right mouse button. System Requirements Max Payne runs on a wide variety of hardware and operating systems. To make sure you are getting optimal game play experience on your system, please make sure Max Payne uses suitable graphical detail level settings for your PC. what could I get with 416 dollars in pc parts?
Thinking of building a gaming computer but that is what I have to start out with. I want a selection of parts minus the following: *power supply *case *hard drive *OS I have a full atx case that is in dire need of new hardware. Any help would be great. Its tax season for me so any little bit can n will help. *edit: ive never had a peace of hardware with more then a single core cpu. I think my last build had to do with a socket a AMD 1800+ athlon cpu*
Video card selection opinion needed?
First a little background... My current system is a Lenovo 3000 J115 7387 with a few upgrades. I have 4GB of RAM and my current video card is an MSI NX8600GT-T2D256E-OC. I actually have 3 identical systems (whole family into gaming) and two of video cards had the fans die, the other has a working fan but the card is crashing the system. The base system has PCI Express x16 (no SLI or Crossfire) and 3 PCI slots below it. I need to keep one PCI slot in use for wireless network cards since the PCs are not directly wired to the router. So what I'm looking at is a recommendation on replacing with an upgraded video card. These PCs are multipurpose systems including gaming (World of Warcraft, Sims 3, Spore, HL2, and other similar games). I know I'll need to replace the power supply since the Lenovo system only has a 250W PSU. As much as I'd like to go out for a new NVIDIA GXT 480, I do need to keep price in mind (I have 3 systems to upgrade). So questions: - Can the dual GPU cards (single card w/ two GPUs) work in a single PCI Express system? I know it will sit over the next PCI slot, but I can afford to give up one of them if it works. - The card hierarchy chart at Tom's Hardware ( http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/best-graphics-card,2569-6.html ) shows a hierarchy video cards. Is the 9800 GTX2 on par with a single GTX 260 or GTX 275? - Any recommendation on brand of video card? My 3 MSI cards died within 3 years of use so I have a distaste for the brand at the moment. - How much video RAM is really needed for the games I listed above (is more than 1 GB overkill)? Keep in mind the underlying system I have since I won't be upgrading for another 1-3 years. - Which PSU brand and or model would work well with the upgrade? - Should I stick with NVIDIA or go with ATI/AMD Radeon? I've been using NVIDIA lately but the new Radeons seem to be cheaper and higher performing by the charts. Models I've considered: 9800 GTX+, 9800 GTX2, GTX 260, GTX 275, GTX 285. Guess I'm just looking for some input from others that went through a similar upgrade. Two of the PCs have dual displays. One is running 2x21" displays at 1440x900, the other has a 23" 1920x1080 and a 21" at 1440. The third PC is just a single 21" at 1440x900 (can't convince my son that 2 screens is better). I am looking to improve frame rates (I do raid a lot in WoW, rest of family less so). I tried to find a GTX/GTS 240, but no luck on NewEgg. I'll continue to poke around at other sites.
Windows 8 Game Graphics problem?
To begin with, yes I know Windows 8 Professional is not fully out(I got it legit through my University) but there seems to be a problem with my Laptop with games with it that does not occur on my PC. When I'm playing games on my Laptop(It's a 2011 Laptop, much newer then my PC that's 2005) graphics start messing up...example: Skyrim: All characters including player is fully black skinned, no details. Armor still shows and eyes. Perfect World(MMORPG): Grass, Character selection, land, and anything else gets graphic squares around it or on it directly and or appears black land, water map when it's supposed to be green land, and loads incorrectly. Relogging eventually fixes this. Again...this only happens on my laptop. PC handles games on Windows 8 perfectly to its Hardware's limits.
