  1. A lump of coal. At least that's how the PC would be. There is absolutely no way you can ever build a gaming PC or buy one for 500.00. If you don't believe me next time your at the supermarket check out the newest issue of Maximum PC. They had a budget rig build off with only 500.00 to spend to see who could build the best rig. To make my point one of them was built in a card board box and still sucked. If your planning on buying (or better building/having one built) a gaming PC start saving. If Mom and Dad are gonna pay the bill start kissing butt. Here is some parts for a rig that will be decent note: more than 500.00....

    COOLER MASTER Centurion 5 - $49.99

    MSI GeForce 8600GT 256MB $109.99

    Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer $79.99

    Broadway Com Corp Okia-black-650 ATX 650W Power $54.99

    Patriot Extreme Performance 2GB DDR2 800 $111.99

    XFX MB-N650-IUL9 LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 650i Ultra ATX Intel Motherboard -

    $98.99

    Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 Allendale 1.8GHz $121.99

    ZALMAN CNPS9500 LED 92mm Cooling Fan $53.99

    Microsoft Windows XP Home $89.99

    Western Digital Caviar 80GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - $42.99

    LITE-ON Black IDE DVD-ROM $16.99

    Total=831.89

    Add shipping. This rig is below standards however there are some things worth mentioning. You can overclock the cpu, ram and video card with this motherboard. Now all you need is a monitor, wired optical mouse(for gaming) and a keyboard. By the way this was all from newegg.
