Build Your Own Gaming PC

How to install windows on a custom build pc?

I recently purchased a custom build gaming pc for my boyfriend, when I purchased it I knew it'd have no operating system so a friend of mine burned a copy of windows 7 to a disk. When switching the pc on and trying to use the disk it doesn't work. A black and white screen appears saying... "Windows boot manager Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem: 1. Insert your windows installation disc and restart your computer 2. Choose your language settings, and then click next. 3. Click repair your computer. If you do not have this disc contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance. Status : 0xc0000034 Info : An unexpected error has occurred" So what do we do? We're really dumb when it comes to computers. Thanks for any help!

  1. Hi,

You have to buy a copy of Windows 7 and stop attempting to use a pirate copy!!!

  2. you will need a new [original] copy of windows that will reinstall windows.

  3. LoL! It's not for that computer and won't work on it!

"A recent hardware or software change might be the cause." It's a whole other computer. Doesn't like the hardware cause it's not the same as the one your friend burnt it from!

  4. Press delete @ boot. This will lead you to your BIOS. Go to your boot options and make sure the DVD drive is set to boot first. Go ahead and disable the other boot devices except for your HDD/SSD.. Don't turn them off but only let BIOS look at the DVD drive. Quicker boot.

There is a second section where you can select which drive is looked at first IF you do have more than one drive in there. You would set your DVD first and HDD 2nd. After the OS install I disable all boot devices except for the drive that has the OS. I don't disable the drives but instead just help Windows boot quicker.

F10 to save and exit when you are satisfied with the changes.

reboot and press any key to boot from cd/dvd when or if prompted.

  5. Sounds like the burn went bad when your friend was making the CD.

But that's actually a good thing, because using an unlicensed copy of Windows is really illegal anyway. You need to actually buy a copy of windows or if you don't want to spend the money go get a copy of Mint or Ubuntu or something instead.

  6. Did you actually bought Windows? Or did you just burned random Windows to put it into your boyfriend's computer? If you did pirated it, mind I ask you why? I mean, you probably paid more than 500 - 600 bucks for that PC, why not pay a bit extra and get it over with? If you really don't want to pay for it, just tell your boyfriend to buy it lol.

The problem is that Windows probably thinks that it is still on the same hardware as the one that was in before, thus not knowing what to do.

  7. how do you guys saying get a real copy know if shes using her own code ???? its still her code shes not sayign shes using a crack or someone elses code, if the computers dead why not use it on a rebuild, mr gates wont miss it.

do as the george says, go to bios boot from cdrom and follow the onscreen instructions, whe n it boots press any key, click fresh install, format the hard drive, then instal, enjoy windows 7 on your new pc,

  8. Get a copy of windows, insert the disc and press DEL or F12 or somthing go get into the bios, go into BOOT and select CD boot..

When you start the computer again, with the CD in it, u will see a "Press any button to start from cd..." or something like that :) Press a button and follow the giving guide :)

  9. Microsoft has built in protections on the install dvd to prevent copies being made.

If you have the product key you can borrow your friends original install disk and use the key. You can return the disk after the install.
