  1. If you are going to be a huge gamer, then you should get a very good graphics card, since a lot of games need very high stats to run properly, I personally have an nVidia 8800 GTX, which is probably the best graphic card on the market, with 768 mb built in RAM, and crazy features, however it costs around 300 dollars, you should get at least an nVidia geforce 6 series graphic card. A 500gb harddrive is a waste of money, what are you going to be storing? And overclocking to only 2.8ghz is a waste of time, my laptop has 3.2ghz without overclocking. You should get two Intel core duo extreme edition processors, which are the best ones, and the most expensive, or if you are planning on using the computer for server purposes as well, get an intel xeon processor (four pipelines in one processor). Get at least 2gb RAM, if you are going to be using windows vista.

  2. My friend who like you also built his own custom PC for FPS gaming said that the Core Duo processors are a ripoff. All they really do is just take two wimpy processors that you wouldn't be caught dead having in your computer by themselves and run them in tandem. What he did was he went and got a custom gaming processor that was a single unit piece. Make sure to get a good fan and heatsink if you are going to overclock your gear too.
